FROM PROTOTYPE TO SERIES-PRODUCTION TOOL

In direct hot-forming, the blank is heated to over 900°C in an oven. The hot blank is then inserted into the cooled tool. The blank is shaped and cooled in a single step.

The material undergoes a structural transformation thanks to rapid cooling. Significantly higher tensile strength and hardness are achieved thanks to the transformation. The components are used in the crash area. The increased strength makes it possible to reduce the thickness of the sheet and hence lower the weight of the component.

PROTOTYPE TOOLS AND PARTS

A fast throughput is essential for prototypes. By constantly optimising our processes we are able to achieve very short throughput times. With our robotically mechanised tryout facility we can manufacture prototype parts reproducibly in different quantities.

Our laboratory contains all the testing equipment and devices necessary to perform all the prescribed tests (tensile, sectioning, flexural, etc.). We measure the geometry, trim and hole pattern tactilely or with our GOM system. Thanks to our experience with series-production tools, we can safeguard your future series by means of near-series prototypes.

SERIES-PRODUCTION TOOLS AND PARTS

We can keep your production costs low by offering up to four different parts per hub in a single tool. We are happy to take on the challenge of achieving compliance for the aforementioned tool size and ensuring process reliability for series production on your equipment.

In our tools we process tailored welded blanks (TWB), tailored rolled blanks (TRB), parts with different hardness zones (tailored properties) and parts with welded blanks (patch parts).

PARTIAL ANNEALING

To ensure that the same conditions (e.g. tool temperature) are always achieved with partial annealing (also known as tailored properties), we have developed a new tool concept and produced a tool. It has been tested and optimised under series production conditions. We can prove to you that it works by means of the measured and verified test series.

We have a patent (and a certificate of transfer) for this new tool concept.

ALUMINIUM HOT-FORMING

There are two different processes for hot-forming aluminium. In the first, the aluminium sheet is heated only to improve forming. In the second, higher heating causes a structural transformation. The aluminium achieves its final hardness by being cured later on in an oven (ageing).
